| Gator-Aides (Gateway School Parent Organization) The Gator-Aides provide moral, physical, and financial support to the students, families, and staff of Gateway School by contributing their time and expertise to benefit its programs emphasizing individualized educational experiences for fifth through twelfth grade students with learning differences. Volunteer Opportunities for Gateway School Parents The following opportunities will allow you, as Gateway School parents, to be involved with your student’s school activities. By being involved you show that school is important to you. You let your son or daughter know that time at school is well spent. These attitudes are an important part of the education process. Speakers for Career Counseling Program * Be a speaker – Explain your career to the students in a group setting. * Arrange for a speaker – Invite someone you know in the business community to speak to our students. * We would like for 2 parents to sign up for career counseling for each month. The speaker will be allowed to choose the time and day they will participate. Sponsor Student of the Month Student of the Month is a motivational program that promotes good citizenship, academic performance, and excellent attendance. By contributing $50, you can provide the savings bond that is presented to the students who are selected by the staff each month. Parenting Classes Are you interested in parenting classes that will be arranged for you through the Parenting Guidance Center? Please indicate what month you would be most interested in participating.(Classes will be approximately six weeks.) Volunteer to help with Special Events * Provide refreshments * Fundraising/Bingo * Teacher Appreciation * Other family events * Make phone calls as a member of the phone committee Be a parent homeroom sponsor |
